Mini Jeep

The kids have asked about a second vehicle to race so they don't have to share the dragster and only drive one day per race weekend. We have the quads that they could run but I was thinking of something more. I saw a mini funny car on a different site and have been thinking about building a smaller scale drag jeep. I have been asking on differnt sites if anyone has seen a light weight fiberglass flatfender body that I could use. I have seen a 1/2 scale steel body by Bemak that is awesome but to heavy for racing. I have seen a golf cart body that is a late model wrangler (sort of). I saw a CJ7 mini for a golf cart on E-bay once.

I will likely base the car on a new quad frame and engine. This would place the scale about 5/8 of original. If I can't find an existing body I will have to fabricate it from scratch.

Let me know if you have any ideas or comments and I will try to keep up to date on my progress.

Maureen has shown some interest in this project so I will pursue it for the next Avenal outing. I believe I will go with a 2/3 scale but I am still picking out the parts. I think a solid axle with a drive shaft is my first choice. Possibly base on my LTZ250.

I got a GSXR 600 motor on Ebay that is planning on making its way into this mini jeep. The brochure claims over 100hp which is more than the 10hp on the dragster. We will see.
